    112300 - WALKING FOR THE HEALTH OF IT

    WALKING FOR THE HEALTH OF IT (AGES 50+)
    This is a Drop In Class meeting Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
    This class is an evidence-based group exercise program that helps older adults of all fitness levels become more active, energized, and able to maintain their independence. The program consists of a 5 minute warm up, a 20-minute warm up, a 20-minute walk, 20 minutes of strength training with ankle and hand weights (provided) 10 minutes of stretching and balance exercises throughout class. Participants may walk indoors or outdoors. Participants are encouraged to work at their own level. Exercises can be modified and can be done from sitting or standing. There are plenty of opportunities to socialize, and make friends. This class is funded by a grant from the Tri-County Office on Aging. There is no fee for the class. Instructor Kathy Gorton, Certified Enhance Fitness Instructor. No Class 11/10 and 11/24.

    Class Description: This is beginning music theory. There will be a music class each 8-week session. There will be a Music Theory Two and Three offered in the 2017-2018 school year. In Music Theory One, students will learn all the basics of music reading, and writing, including counting music and various rhythms. They will learn the vocabulary or language of music while completing fun exercises. There will be music listening during each class to teach students to identify and recognize different types of music. Musical instruments will also be identified. Students will be encouraged to begin thinking about writing a song of their own. Bucket Drumming will be utilized to practice rhythms together toward the end of the eight-week class.     The Lifetime Sports office offers a youth basketball program for boys and girls in grades 1-4. This is a non-competitive league, skill-based program with volunteer coaches from individual registrations. Participants are placed on teams according to their grade and school. Registration deadline is November 30,2016; registrations after November 10 will be an additional $10.
