Participants will choose community based organizations to partner with to develop civic leadership skills around a service project of their vision and design. Participants will learn to develop strategies for social justice, civic leadership, and grassroots community change. Teens will also: enrich their understanding of local, state, and world events; what it means to think globally and act locally; and develop papers, presentations, and digital media productions to share with local leaders and policy makers.     Aikido is a non-aggressive, traditional Japanese Martial Art that focuses on redirecting the opponent's energy. Training focuses on multiple areas of practice: rolling, falling, throwing techniques, pinning techniques and Aikido weapons: Jo (wooden short staff) and bokken (wooden sword). Instructor Jeremy Hix is a certified instructor of Aikido through the Aikido Work Alliance (AWA). 10 sessions.

    Back again this summer! Gather your family and a smartphone and get ready to kick off your summer and explore Lansing! July is National Parks and Recreation month and we are kicking it off with this family fun event. Registrants will receive a list of tasks to complete around Lansing with your family. Submit a picture for each task and receive points based on difficulty. Some tasks even have prizes attached to their completion.
